Many people want more information on ADD. I would first suggest to be
sure and read Dr. Paul
Elliott's abstracts that are listed as LINKS at the
bottom of my BIO. These are very informative
articles that might answer many of your questions. Also, check other articles on the Internet on
ADD. Next, there are many good books on ADD in your bookstores. Finally, check to see if
there are ADD support groups in your area.
Many people are also interested in what my evaluation involves and whether
it can be self-
administered. My evaluation is individual and takes about
3 to 4 hours to complete. I test both
children and adults and use the Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised or the Weschler
Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised. (These tests are currently being updated to the WISC-III
and the WAIS-III.) These are well-known I.Q. tests that have 11 subtests
that measure different cognitive functioning abilities. It can pinpoint
difficulties with attention, auditory processing, visual motor perceptual
difficulties and has neurological indicators. I look for cognitive strengths
and weakness
in these subtests, for cluster scores, and for discrepancies.
I also use the Bender Visual Motor Gestalt Test which requires reproduction
of 9 abstract drawings.
It also denotes difficulties with organization,
planning, distortion of shape of figures, impulsivity, emotional indicators,
and difficulties with visual motor perceptual tasks that is a neurological
indicator.
In addition, I use a rating scale that projects onto a profile that indicates
whether one is normal,
at risk, or at very high risk in ten different areas.
Finally, I take a case history which includes academics, career (for
adults), social, emotional and behavioral, and medical.
My fee is extremely reasonable. If anyone is interested in setting up
an appointment, I am located
in the Dallas, Texas and have names of doctors
to refer for treatment. I have had people travel
here from various states
and from Canada. It is best to call me on weekdays between 4 P.M.
and 6 P.M. (CST) or on weekends. I can be reached at 972-669-9109. My answering
machine
is on at all times.
I hope this will answer most of your questions. Thanks, Suzy |
